IBPS Photo — Frequently Asked Questions
IBPS PO, Clerk, SO and RRB all require a photograph of 200 × 230 pixels, JPEG format, maximum 50 KB. The background must be plain white and the face should cover 70–80% of the frame with eyes clearly open.
Both the signature and left thumb impression must be 140 × 60 pixels, JPEG format, maximum 20 KB. For the signature, use black or blue ink on plain white paper. For the thumb impression, use a clean stamp pad — press firmly on white paper and photograph in good light with no smearing.
Yes. IBPS RRB PO (Office Assistant) and RRB Clerk follow the same specification as IBPS PO and Clerk — 200×230 px, max 50 KB for photo; 140×60 px, max 20 KB for signature and thumb impression. Use the IBPS RRB preset above which auto-names the file
ibpsrrbphoto.jpg.The binary-search compression in this tool automatically finds the highest quality that fits under the target KB. If the result is still over 50 KB, manually lower the quality slider to 76–78% and click resize again. At 200×230 px, 78% JPEG quality consistently produces a file between 25–45 KB.
Yes. Scanned passport photos are accepted as long as they meet the spec. Scan at 200 DPI or higher, ensure the background is white and not grey or cream from the scanner. Upload the scan here to resize to exactly 200×230 px and compress under 50 KB before submitting to the IBPS portal.
This error appears when: (1) dimensions are not exactly 200×230 px, (2) file exceeds 50 KB, (3) format is not JPEG, or (4) the photo is in grayscale instead of colour. This tool produces a colour JPEG at exactly 200×230 px. If the error persists, try a different browser (Chrome is most compatible with IBPS portal) or clear your browser cache before re-uploading.
